Table Manners

As a Shiba Inu, I am very good at Shiba Mind Control with my humans. Being an ancient breed, I am also a zen master when I need to be. Therefore, I do not need to "beg" for food when my people are eating something tasty. I patiently wait, using Shiba Mind Control and my zen techniques and good things come my way. Most of the time.

Starving. Plz feed me. on Twitpic
"You want to feed the dog...he's starving"

The other day, we were at a cafe and I was sitting there on the sidewalk being a zen master and this lady walks by and says "what a patient dog". Yup. That's me!

I have noticed sometimes I need to get pretty close to my people for Shiba Mind Control to work. This means I sit next to them on the couch and look at their plate, then look at them - CLEARLY communicating what they are suppose to do. At times, their food seems to have some sort of anti-dog weapon called: "too spicy" and they are able to resist my charm and mind control. However, being a zen master, I know this builds up good food karma for the next time!

"You are getting sleepy and want to feed the dog...yesss...feed the dog...."

Woof! Wishing all my fur-iends good food karma!

  1. dear zuko, i hope kaiju will someday learn from you, the zen master, and be able to sit patiently at a cafe with us (as of now, he frets and tries to escape or climb up on our laps because he is afraid of chairs and doors, and waiters...). but, i would like to request that you never teach him how to stare at our plates. it seems to be some really powerful stuff, and we sure won't be able to resist it.

  2. Hi Nobuko! Kaiju will reach Zen Master soon - being a Shiba and all, he's born to it. Cheese helps too. That is how my people trained me. Patient dog = treats. I figured it out pretty fast.

As for the plate staring part: that is between me and Kaiju. *woof-woof*

  3. Shio has progressed to coming right up to us while we are sitting on our couch and resting his chin on your knee while staring straight into your eyes. Melts my heart every time!

  4. @Ting - awww...isn't that sweet? I joke that I have the world's most LOVING Shiba...when I have food. When the food is gone he disappears.

  5. This is so true. Shibas are too noble to beg. My Niko sometimes nudges my leg with his wet nose or licks me to tell me he's waiting. Go Zen Master Zuko!
